Riding School “Duinmanege van Poelenburgh” offer you the possibility of fantastic outdoor riding in the beautiful area’s of Schoorl and Bergen.

Step Ride

Horse riding in the woods and dunes for beginners. Our employees will guide each participant from arrival to departure. After registering in the canteen each person will be provided with a safety helmet. Each rider will be allocated a suitable horse, which will already be saddled-up. You will then all congregate in the inside riding area where you will receive instructions on how to steer the horse. After this explanation, follows 1 to 1hr 30mins of great outdoor riding through the woods and dunes.

Woods/Dunes Ride

A ride through the woods and dunes for experienced horse riders, who are able to master galloping. A group exists of 4 to 10 riders, if more persons have registered then the group will be split-up. In the splitting of the groups, experience and personal wishes will be taken into consideration. A minimum of one leader will accompany each group. They will be responsible for safety and responsible riding behaviour. A woods/dune ride takes minimum 2 hours.

Beach Ride

From the riding school, riding via the woods and dunes to the beach is, for us, an obvious route. This ride demonstrates the advantage of the ideal location of our riding school. In order to participate in the beach ride you must possess a minimum of 2 years recent riding experience. In addition the same conditions apply as mentioned in the woods/dunes ride. A beach ride takes a minimum of 2 hours.

Daytrip

Day trip through the woods/dune area, which can also be combined with the beach, including coffee break / lunch. Do you also wish to include Dinner, this is also possible to arrange at the riding school. A day trip takes a minimum of 4 hours.

PWN Ride

A wood & dunes ride, combined with the beach and with a ride through the PWN area. This ride lasts a minimum of 3 hours. For this ride an additional charge of €5 per person is applicable for the purchase of a PWN dunecard.

Full moon ride

For the experienced rider with recent experience of beach riding, this is a very unique way to experience outdoor riding. In the light of the moon we will ride through the woods, dunes and on the beach. An experience that should not be missed!

Registration for one of our outdoor rides can be made by telephoning: 072-5092149. One outdoor ride costs € 20,00 per hour.

Rules

We request that riders be present at least 30 minutes in advance. Firstly, please  register in the canteen, you will then be informed which horse or pony you will be riding and where you can find him. In order that you can easily find your gear, all saddles and head gear are marked by name and hung-up in the saddle room.

If you have no experience in saddling a horse, we will assist you. In the case of the step ride your horse will already be pre-saddled.

Please inform us of any changes to the number of participants of the outdoor rides or cancellations at least 48 hours in advance.

Riding clothes

• A riding hat is compulsory! This must be a safety hat (conforming to CE/EN1384 inspection mark). Hats can be lent from the riding school.
• Riders must wear (riding)boots or sturdy shoes that have a flat smooth sole, a heel & a smooth topside (jodhpur boots) in combination with chaps.
• Comfortable trousers. Leggings or jogging trousers are suitable, but preferably no jeans (as these rub).

Privatlessons

A half hour private lesson with one of our experienced riding instructors. Horse riding lessons are possible for children from 7 years old.

Group lessons

You can join one of our group lessons. These lessons take one hour and therefore you need to have recent riding experience and be able to trot and gallop.

Walking with a pony

For children who are too young to begin horse riding lessons, it is possible to hire a pony for 30 minutes and take it for a walk around the horse riding grounds.

Rental of stable

If you are spending your vacation in the vicinity of our riding school, then it is possible for you to hire a stable for your horse. It is important that you make your reservation well in advance. For reservations and information on the costs please phone 072-5092149.
